Three peas in a pod…
A careful read and a little bit of study of Ezekiel 38:1-6 reveals an evil coalition that will one day invade Israel. Magog, Meshech and Tubal are undoubtedly descriptors of Russia. Gog, the prince of Rosh, will be a Russian czar hungry for power and willing to lead the charge to the mountains of Israel.
In verse 5, Persia is introduced as a member of that coalition. Until the 1930’s, Iran was known as Persia. There is no dispute over the modern-day identity of Persia. Ethiopia (more likely the modern-day area of Sudan), and Put (Libya and perhaps Algeria) are also named.
Gomer and Beth-Togarmah join the crowd in verse 6. Most scholars agree those two areas equate to modern-day Turkey (and perhaps some surrounding territory).
There you have it, my friends: Russia, Iran and Turkey who are now tighter than ever in coalition in Syria (just north of Israel), and Sudan and Libya actively training jihadist to join the invasion. It makes the photo above very chilling. Three evil rulers of the three primary Ezekiel 38 parties forming a strong alliance.
Joel Rosenberg provides an insightful commentary on that alliance, along with thoughts about Christian response to President Trump’s decision to pull out of Syria. Check out Going from Bad to Worse: Russia Creates Alliance with Iran and Turkey.
But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.~Luke 21:28
