Wow!
Following Sunday’s devastating earthquake on the Iran-Iraq border, Israel did what they always do: offered search and rescue and humanitarian aid in the midst of disaster. Sadly, both Iran and Iraq have refused the efforts of the world’s foremost first responders. (See examples here and here.)
The deadly 7.3 quake has now taken the lives of over 530, and another 8,000 are wounded. Who knows the number who may still be buried in debris.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu immediately offered assistance following the tragedy. He highlighted that effort in a short address to the Jewish Federations of North America, where he stated:
“We have no quarrel with the people of Iran. Our quarrel is only with the tyrannical regime that holds them hostage and threatens our destruction. But our humanity is greater than their hatred. Israel continues to be a light unto the nations.”
~Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
