Are you enjoying this week’s study? It is a joy to study with you and my prayer is that you are blessed.
We are talking about making way for the King, and have focused on these ideas:
Those lessons were packed with exciting details so I hope you will review them if you haven’t been with us the past few days.
We know that natural Israel will ultimately be restored, resulting in life from the dead. As Romans 11 tells us, unbelief on the part of Jews opened up the door of salvation for Gentiles. How grateful we are for that!
But with that comes a stern warning found in Romans 11:17-24, telling us that, though branches were broken off because of unbelief, we are not to brag or boast about being grafted in. After all, we are just a branch, and the root (Jesus) supports us. We do not support the root. Furthermore, if we think more highly of ourselves than we ought, we too could be kept from being grafted in.
One of the ways this dangerous action is manifest is in Replacement Theology, which in essence says:
Because the Jews rejected Jesus, Jesus now rejects the Jews and has transferred all the covenant promises made with Abraham to the church.
This could not be further from the truth, and if you hear this being taught, RUN! It is dangerous. Israel’s future blessings in the land are NOT accounted as spiritual blessings to the church. Furthermore, Israel’s national destiny in the land has NOT been removed. The church is NOT the “new Israel.”
Replacement Theology is full of glaring errors. If it is indeed true, then:
- God would have to annul His covenant with Abraham and would, thus, be a liar.
- Israel’s destiny in the land of Israel would not be unique.
- Restoration of the Jewish state (May 14, 1948) was simply a political coincidence and had nothing to do with God. (Then Ezekiel 36-37 must be a myth!)
- Israel would be just like any other nation.
None of those things can possibly be true…particularly God being a liar. The Bible prophesies the truth and history has borne it out. Those adhering to Replacement Theology are engaging in “spiritual antisemitism,” and those teaching Replacement Theology are wolves in sheep’s clothing (false prophets) that Scripture warns us about! (Matthew 7:15)
Dear friends, the King is preparing His kingdom! He promised Abraham a kingdom, though I wonder if even Abraham had problems grasping the greatness of the kingdom! In divine sovereignty, God established the land of Canaan (Israel) as “headquarters” for the kingdom.
Yet, a new kingdom is being developed: a worldwide family made up of those who receive the Messiah. In this kingdom, there is no distinction between Jew and Gentile. It is the Millennial Kingdom…the fulfillment of the Davidic Covenant!
In the next few days we’ll launch into our last week of study, when we discuss “The King is Coming!” We’ll talk about the timing and the imminence of it. If you are studying along with us, you don’t want to miss the grand finale! Stay tuned!
