Oh how exciting God’s Word is as we discover our Jewish roots! We are pushing toward the return of the King by looking at natural Israel (unbelieving Israel) and spiritual Israel (all who have believed in Jesus the Messiah, whether Jew or Gentile). Review Kingdom Lessons and Natural Israel/Spiritual Israel to find details of that idea.
Now we turn our attention to the restoration of natural Israel. Let’s begin in Romans 11:24-26a. That passage provides important details about natural Israel. For example:
- Natural Israel will be restored
- Natural Israel will be grafted back into her own tree
- Natural Israel will become the true Israel of God
Unbelieving Israel (natural Israel) will remain out of the olive tree until the fulness of the Gentiles comes in. Once that happens, ALL Israel will be saved! The King will come!
That spiritual restoration of natural Israel will finally finish the fulfillment of Ezekiel 36-37 in which God promises to pour out His spirit, cleanse them and put a new heart within them. Let’s discover what Romans 11:11-15 tells us.
According to verse 11, Israel’s failure in the natural state brought incredible spiritual riches to Gentiles. This was to make Israel jealous and desirous of salvation. If we (Gentiles) were enriched by Israel’s rejection of salvation, how much greater will the blessing be when the Jews finally accept it! Catch the key verse:
For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead?
Imagine when natural Israel becomes spiritual Israel! Those broken off, dead branches will be grafted back in and all Israel will be saved. Life from the dead! (Seems like God is into resurrection!)
Oh, how glorious! However, Gentiles are given very specific warning in that same chapter. We’ll tackle that tomorrow, so join us again.
