Netanyahu and Abbas to Meet in Moscow

According to The Jerusalem Post, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has agreed to meet with Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, in Moscow.

Though Netanyahu has repeatedly committed to meet with Abbas “anytime, any place,” the PA President has repeatedly insisted on pre-conditions (cease building of settlements and revert to the boundaries allegedly established prior to 1967).  Palestinian officials have stated that Abbas is willing to hold talks without conditions.

Noting failed US attempts at negotiating peace between Israel and the Palestinians, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova indicates Moscow wishes to “find a compromise solution on the basis of international law.”

For those of us familiar with the Ezekiel 38-39 prophecy regarding a Russian-Iranian-led invasion of Israel, this begs the question: Is the wolf guarding the chicken coop here?

Interestingly, this is not the first seemingly friendly interaction between Russia and Israel.  Recently, Prime Minister Netanyahu has made several trips to Moscow to discuss coordination of military movement in Syria.

Indeed, interesting events are happening in the Middle East!  All the more reason to keep an eye on Israel, with the other eye on Scripture and our thoughts toward Israel.  To read more about the upcoming meeting, click here.
