Headed for the deep south! The Decision America Tour 2016 is slated for stops in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama over the next few days, where Franklin Graham will once again encourage believers to live out their faith at home, in public, and at the ballot box. We are halfway through the Primary Election season and nominees are all but locked in. Yet our job as Christians is not done, and the Decision America Tour is far from over. Keep in mind that we have a General Election in November, and soon we will have a new president. What better time to commit ourselves to prayer for our nation, our leaders, and our citizens.
I hope you will join Franklin Graham in prayer over the next three days, as we focus on Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama.
Tuesday, April 12, 2016: Little Rock Arkansas
- 30% of Arkansans have never gone to church or have left the church.
- Only 15% of residents ages 18-29 consider themselves evangelical Christians.
- Among self-identified Christians, 1 in 3 are not committed or are only moderately committed.
“In the Name of Jesus, we come on behalf of the people of Arkansas asking You, Lord, for grace and mercy yet unseen. Father, for those who have walked away from the church, may You gently walk them back. For those who have never been, provide a path, then light it for them. Oh God of Heaven’s Armies, take up battle against the enemy of our souls and bring Arkansans into the fold. We pray particularly for the 18-29 year-olds who are about to become tomorrow’s leaders in business, in government, in education and all other walks of life. May they turn to You and may You bless them with presence beyond comprehension. Lord, draw Christians in Arkansas and everywhere to grow stronger in their faith, and to commit to what You have for them. You are a gracious God, and we look for Your miracle-working power.”
Wednesday, April 13, 2016: Jackson Mississippi
- 90% of Mississippi’s nearly 3 million people say they are personally committed to Jesus Christ.
- Nearly 1 in 4 people live below the poverty level, the highest in the nation.
- The state legislature passed a bill in 2014 protecting the religious freedom of residents, in their private lives and in the public marketplace.
“Lord, You are a Father to the helpless, and one can only surmise that many of those below the poverty level are children. Lord God, continue to provide for them, and for adults who find themselves in poverty for whatever reason. Please show them a way out, and provide the resources and encouragement for them to do so. But Holy God, how we praise and exalt You for the great work You are doing in Mississippi! Thank you for the 90% who call You Lord and walk Your path. Praise You, Lord, for a Godly Mississippi legislature that has passed a bill that protects religious freedom! You are a great God who has acted on behalf of Your people in Mississippi. Will You fill the minds of prayer warriors everywhere to sing praises to You, while also praying for the needs of Mississippians? Thank You for Your lovingkindness!”
Thursday, April 14, 2016: Montgomery Alabama
- 23% of Alabama’s population have never gone to church or have left the church.
- Among self-identified Christians, 31% are not committed or are only moderately committed.
- 45% pray, read the Bible, and attend church each week.
“Again, oh God, we offer first a sacrifice of praise for Your great work in the state of Alabama! May the 45% who pray, read and attend find blessing beyond imagination, and may their enthusiasm for You and Your Word be a living testimony to those around them. Bless them please! But Lord, 23% are utterly lost in society. As You hearken to them, we pray they will hear and heed Your call to return to fellowship with believers. In addition, we pray You will bring about commitment of those who call themselves Christians. Be Lord over Alabama, and bring such revival in that state that it escalates from there. And all the people said…..Amen!”
