Decision America Tour: South Carolina and Georgia

While voters in New Hampshire go to the polls today, the Decision America Tour moves south.  (The tour was in New Hampshire on January 19.) Though you may be unfamiliar with this effort, you are likely familiar with Franklin Graham, the son of Billy Graham.  Franklin is traveling to every state in the nation prior to the 2016 elections, challenging Christians to “live out their faith at home, in public and at the ballot box.”

Like many Christian leaders, Franklin sees and is concerned about the state of our nation and, ultimately, the spiritual state of those who call themselves Christians.  Don’t get me wrong…this isn’t about doubting the salvation of others, but about exhorting believers to actually live out their faith!  As the collective Body of Christ, we are walking away from Biblical teaching and we need a “reset!”

So, today and tomorrow Franklin will be in South Carolina and Georgia.  If you are anywhere close to Columbia or Atlanta, why not join hundreds of other believers who will gather at those capitals to join in prayer and encouragement.  If you are not in those areas, will you join with thousands of us remotely by praying for South Carolina and Georgia?  Here are specific prayer points:

Tuesday, February 9, 2016: South Carolina

  • About 91% of the population of South Carolina identify as Christian.
  • Nearly 65% of hate crimes in the state are racially motivated.
  • South Carolina has the highest domestic homicide rate in the nation.

“In the Name of our Lord Jesus we pray for the people of South Carolina.  Like so many places in our country, violence seems to reign in South Carolina.  Father, we pray for a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit to those South Carolinians who profess the Lordship of Jesus, Your Son.  Please give them the grace to live it out.  As that 91% steps up to proclaim Jesus as Lord, we pray that revival will ignite in South Carolina. Help citizens understand that violence is not the answer…You, Lord, are the answer.  In the Name of Jesus, revive South Carolina, we pray!”

Wednesday, February 10, 2016: Georgia

  • Georgia is among the 10 states with the highest rate of Christians who are not registered to vote.
  • Just over half the people of Georgia report reading the Bible frequently and regularly.
  • More than 18% of Georgians live below the poverty level.
  • There are an estimated 10,000 churches of all varieties and sizes in Georgia.

“Blessed are those who read and uphold Your Word, O God!  May it be a light unto their path (Psalm 119:105), and may they reap the blessing of being not hearers only, but doers of Your Word! (Romans 2:13, James 1:22-25) Precious Jesus, please provide jobs and means of support for those living in poverty.  Open up opportunities for meaningful employment, and create an army of workers who will work as until the Lord.  Meanwhile, Lord, please move on the hearts and minds of Georgians to assume their civil responsibility by registering and voting.  We are so thankful for the freedom we have and the responsibility that comes with freedom.  Please light Your revival fire in Georgia!”

Fellow believers, let’s be faithful to pray.  The Lord hears and honors our prayers as we pray in His will.  Thanks for joining the effort!

PS: Please pray for those voting in New Hampshire today.  May righteousness prevail!
