An Unshakable Promise and an Unshakable Condition

A few days ago I introduced the idea of Christian Zionism, with the promise that I will share more with you on occasion.  So, let’s return to that idea today.

Do you ever wonder why Israel keeps giving away land (or at least offering or negotiating to do so) for the promise of peace?  Peace never comes and, as Christians, we often opine that “God gave the land to Israel, so they should never give it up!”

Well, there is a degree of truth to that, but perhaps we need to understand that the unshakable promise of land comes with an unshakable condition!  (Yes, God sometimes sets conditions upon His promises.)  Thus, when we read Genesis 13:14-15 and 15:18, we need to also consider Deuteronomy 11:8-9 and 28:63.

I invite you to read and consider An Unshakable Promisethen determine God’s intention for His people.  Yes, the Jews are promised a homeland…and it is a large and fruitful one.  However, God also requires that His people keep His commandments!

With that in mind, our greatest service to Israel is to pray for an awakening.  Ezekiel 36-37 predicts the re-birth of Israel as a nation, which was fulfilled in 1948.  However, Ezekiel 36:26-28 says:

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.  I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.  You will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be My people, and I will be your God.

Oh that God’s Spirit would come upon Israel in a mighty way in our lifetime!  Let’s pray for that!

Blessings dear friends!
