The Bible speaks of the rise and fall of one world religion and one world government (primarily in Revelation 17 and 18), and the two are inextricably linked.  According to Scripture, each will rise during the tribulation, after the rapture of the church.  However, for the first time in history, we are seeing very clear framework of each being constructed right before our very eyes, providing evidence that we are indeed living in the last days.
