Good news today…there are some members of Congress who stand with Israel! Despite presidential and Democratic resistance, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will address a joint session of Congress next Tuesday.
Over the past several weeks since the invitation was extended, many Democratic Congressmen have announced plans to skip Netanyahu’s speech. According to The Hill, 22 Democratic US Representatives and 3 Democratic US Senators have announced their intentions to skip the speech. At least 25 additional Representatives and 10 Senators are undecided. Neither President Obama, Vice President Biden, nor Secretary of State John Kerry will attend the speech or meet privately with Netanyahu.
However, there are signs that the boycott is weakening, and now Democrats have invited Netanyahu to a closed door meeting.
Friends, will you join me in praying that politics will be left out of this occasion, and that our Congressmen will unite in standing with Israel? Netanyahu will undoubtedly address the threat of radical Islam, particularly the deal the US and others are about to make with Iran which would likely give them nuclear capabilities. This is an incredibly important issue for the security of Israel, our allies in the Middle East, and our own homeland. Please contact your Senators and Representatives in the next few days to encourage them to attend the speech. More importantly, will you join me in committing to pray and fast for this very historical event? May God extend His grace to our land.
Blessings!
