Christian friends, I encourage you to pray for our president and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They are scheduled to meet tomorrow (Wednesday, 10/1/14) to discuss many important foreign policy matters. Though America has stood as Israel’s closest ally since the birth of Israel in 1948, we have seen a definite shift in American policy away from Israel.
Genesis 12:3 tells us that those who bless Israel will be blessed, while those who curse Israel will be cursed. Furthermore, Joel 3:1-2 specifically warns that God will enter into judgment with those who scatter His people and divide up their land. The division of land in Israel is a hot topic right now, and sadly, our president has pressured Israel to give up land.
Not to be cynical, but American leaders need to realize that where we stand on this issue of Israel’s sovereignty is VERY important. I just watched Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the UN General Assembly. This man has been blessed by God with incredible wisdom. Even secular media is acknowledging the need for President Obama to recognize the truth about Israel. Let’s pray that wisdom prevails as they meet tomorrow, and that Netanyahu’s insight will strike a cord with President Obama.
Our responsibility as Christians is to pray for our leaders. Brothers and sisters, will you please join me tomorrow in prayer for our president and Mr Netanyahu? They need wisdom…and we need to pray on their behalf.
