Several hours ago, the US and a coalition of 5 Sunni Arab states (Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates) launched airstrikes on ISIS targets in Syria. Fighter jets, Predator and Reaper drones, and American naval vessels were called upon to unleash cruise missiles and precision-guided bombs on the militants’ de facto capital of Raqqa. Destroyed were command and control buildings, depots, and weapon supplies.
On Sunday night, CBS aired interviews with former CIA Director Leon Panetta and Jordan’s King Abdullah II. I have yet to watch those interviews, but understand that both emphasized how important this action is, and both are said to have stated that much should have been done sooner to stop ISIS. I’ll watch in the next few days. Those “60 Minutes” episodes may be found here.
Stay tuned. Developing….
