According to Israeli media, thousands of ISIS supporters rallied on Temple Mount during a Muslim prayer session on a recent Friday, indicating it is “only a matter of time” before they reach Palestine to join the fight against “barbaric Jews”.

Meanwhile, Israeli intelligence has reported that at least 10 Israeli Arabs have joined the Islamic State (ISIS), raising concerns that they could return to carry out attacks inside Israel.

While ISIS continues its rampage of brutal carnage in Syria and Iraq, recruitment of militant radicals to join its forces is happening all over the world.  ISIS boldly murders American journalists publically, while massacring thousands of Christians (and other who oppose radical Islam) every day.  Yet, the US administration still has no strategy.  While the world observes another gigantic “disconnect” in US foreign policy, the US continues to accelerate down the slippery slope of world respect and power.

Why is that important?  Not because the US should reign in power over the rest of the world, but because throughout our country’s history, we have stood (for the most part) on the side of justice and righteousness.  We are a nation founded on Christian principles and the Lord has guided us.  His hand of blessing has been upon us.  However, I’m not so sure that is the case any longer.  As our government leaders have taken our nation down that slippery slope over the past few decades, and as churches and many believers have compromised the truth of God’s Word, it is now difficult to believe that God will bless the unrighteousness that has resulted.  The world needs a strong, principled leading nation…and the US is no longer that nation.

What the world sees is weakness.  Military weakness…yes, perhaps.  Weakness in leadership…most definitely.  Spiritual weakness…absolutely!  Russia is taking note, and so is ISIS, other radical Islamic terrorist groups. and Iran.  They are all beginning to see that the US either can’t or won’t exercise the leadership necessary to abate radical Islam.  Thus, Israel is vulnerable, and so is the US.  

Today it is Israeli Arabs joining ISIS and demonstrating on Temple Mount.  Tomorrow it may mean terrorism at our front door.  But, dear friends, regardless of what our government leaders do, God is faithful!  He has promised to deliver Israel, and He has promised that believers will escape the wrath that is to come (1 Thessalonians 1:10  and 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10)  We may see difficult times, but we will be spared the wrath that God will pour out in the tribulation.  That is something for which to be eternally grateful!  However, as we express our gratitude, let’s also be faithful to pray for God’s mercy on those impacted by the atrocities of ISIS and others.  Pray, also, for righteousness to return to our nation.  We need a Third Great Awakening, and that is not beyond the capability of our great God and Savior!  But it requires repentance individually and nationally.
