I received pictures from dear friends in Israel that tell a story of the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) that doesn’t get told by the secular media. These are pictures from the conflict in Gaza. I’ll allow the pictures and Scripture references the Lord brought to mind to tell the story. Enjoy!
He will have compassion on the poor and needy, And the lives of the needy he will save. Psalm 72:13
Israeli soldiers provide refuge to innocent civilians in the midst of conflict.
In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence,
And his children will have refuge.Proverbs 14:26
We’re not there yet, but one day, this will be true:
And the streets of the city will be filled with boys and girls playing in its streets. Zechariah 8:5
On that day, there will be no distinction between soldier and civilian, Palestinian and Jew, or any other separation. Pray that the children of Gaza will dream dreams and see visions of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that the veil will be lifted from the eyes of Israeli soldiers and citizens to see their Messiah! May we all play together in the streets of the New Jerusalem!
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. Proverbs 25:21“Thus has the Lord of hosts said, ‘Dispense true justice and practice kindness and compassion each to his brother; and do not oppress the widow or the orphan, the stranger or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.” Zechariah 7:8-10May he vindicate the afflicted of the people,
Save the children of the needy
And crush the oppressor.
Psalm 72:4
A righteous deed, by a son of Israel.
The Lord performs righteous deeds
And judgments for all who are oppressed.
He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the sons of Israel.Psalm 103:6-7And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.” Matthew 10:42You shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land.’ Deuteronomy 15:11
(Let us remember that the land where the conflict is occurring is land God promised to Israel! Indeed, these acts are happening “in your [Israel’s] land!”)
Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. James 1:27A righteous man has regard for the life of his animal, But even the compassion of the wicked is cruel. Proverbs 12:10Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. Romans 13:8Pursue peace with all men,and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord. Hebrews 12:14“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Matthew 5:43-44
