For good reason, we talk often about God’s mandate for the Jewish people, given to Abraham and applied to all his descendants. The mandate is stated clearly as a crescendo immediately following God’s instructions and promises to Abraham, found in Genesis 12:1-3:

12 Now the Lord had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you.
² I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
³ I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

First, God provides a directive to leave his country and go to an unknown land. Then, He makes significant promises to Abraham before culminating this brief conversation with the profound mandate to bless all the families of the earth!

Biblically speaking, the most significant blessing to ever come from Abraham’s descendants is Jesus, the Jewish carpenter’s son who proved to be the Savior of the world. But the blessings did not stop there! In ancient days, Israel has blessed the world through Scripture (Jewish authors), the disciples, and the prophets. Modern-day Israel blesses the world with innovation, technology, intelligence, and so many other things.

God continues to use the Jewish people to bless the families of the earth even today. Check out this current example recently highlighted by Amir Tsarfati:

This shouldn’t surprise those who know God’s Word. “I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Genesis 12:3 (NKJV) The greatest blessing ever given to the world through the Jewish people is, of course, our precious Messiah, Yeshua, through whom salvation has been made available to all who believe. But God’s promise did not end there. Even in Israel’s present unbelief, God continues to use the Jewish people to bless the nations. Whether in medicine, science, agriculture, water technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, or defense systems, the contribution of the Jewish people to humanity has been extraordinary. Considering that Jews make up less than 0.2% of the world’s population, their disproportionately high number of Nobel Prize laureates is yet another reminder that God is still fulfilling His promise that through Abraham’s descendants all the families of the earth would be blessed. Pax Silica is simply the latest example. Just as the “Silicon Dome” has become a strategic shield over Taiwan because nearly 60% of the world’s semiconductor manufacturing capacity is concentrated there, Israel’s role in the Pax Silica alliance could one day become its own Silicon Dome. When a nation becomes indispensable to the world’s most critical technologies, protecting that nation is no longer merely an act of friendship - it becomes a strategic necessity. While billions of dollars are being spent trying to convince the world that Israel is a burden, the leaders shaping the future of technology have reached the exact opposite conclusion: Israel is indispensable. For a nation of fewer than ten million people, this is nothing short of remarkable. The God of Israel is still keeping His promises.

Indeed, while the world should be grateful for the blessings handed down throughout Israel’s history, Israel is ridiculed and reviled by the very “families of the earth” God chose to bless through them. As believers in Jesus, the Jewish Messiah, we would do well to heed God’s promise to bless those who bless Israel.

The alternative is for those who curse Israel to be cursed by the Almighty God of the universe. I know which side I’ll stand on. What about you?
