As war forges ahead in Iran, grumbles of dissent are beginning to amplify. Regardless of your position on the war, you can bet those who oppose it will increasingly proclaim that Israel is to blame. The narrative will then evolve into the argument that the US sends far too much military aid to Israel, while Americans are struggling financially.
I don’t doubt that there are those in significant need in our country. We have young people who can’t afford to move out of their parents’ basements and working Americans who struggle to make ends meet. Yet, we live in the most prosperous country in the history of the world. Yes, there is need. Yes, we should address it. But NO, Israel is not the root of our problem! Our own national greed and lack of care for one another plays a significant part in that.
But let’s get back to the blame game foisted upon Israel. Is the $3.8 billion in military aid the problem? While I agree that perhaps we could reign in resources a bit, that amount actually pales in comparison to the pork that is in the bills passed in Congress each year.
Beyond that, there is a gaping disconnect in understanding how those funds appropriated to Israel are used, and the return on that investment. It may shock you to know just what happens to those dollars. However, we get a very clear picture in this 8-minute explanation. Take note, then remember this information when the media-driven lunatics press the issue.
