Not surprisingly, some media outlets hopped on the narrative that Israel is somehow responsible for the assassination of Charlie Kirk. (Here is an example.) Of course there is still much investigation to be done, and I suppose it is theoretically possible that an Israeli somewhere, somehow had something to do with encouraging Tyler Robinson to carry out the heinous murder of Charlie Kirk.
But I doubt it.
The point here is that the world rarely misses an opportunity to blame the Jewish people for some tragedy or heinous act that occurs. At times, I am ashamed of my own country (which I love) when leaders (or others) jump to conclusions or fall for media misinformation and begin terrorizing Israel with accusations and falsehoods. (Examples: famine and genocide in Gaza)
One such opportunity reared its ugly head when Charlie Kirk was assassinated. Almost immediately social media began to perpetrate the rumor that surely Israel must have something to do with it! Was it the working of a spy? What about a cyber guru who managed to draw angry people together and urge one to kill another? Did an Israeli intelligence asset have the ear of a deranged killer?
Those questions, and those far more cynical and absurd, are making the rounds on social media, and some are eating it up without one shred of evidence that any of it is true. As Christians, we must remain vigilant. We must not fall for the lies and propaganda spread by evil people. Rather, we must view the world only through the lens of Scripture.
In the clip below, Amir Tsarfati, in an online Q&A session with Pastor Barry Stagner, addresses the issue and the ultimate outcome.
Again, friends, I encourage you to be careful not to believe everything you hear on social media, mainstream media, or in rumors spread by anyone. When we jump on the bandwagon to disparage Israel, we step into dangerous territory. Biblical worldview matters. Put on your scriptural glasses and measure everything against the standard of God’s Word!
