Ok, let’s be more specific…Can Gazans be trusted with a ceasefire as long as Hamas is still around? Perhaps that’s an entirely different question. Perhaps not.
Is Gaza Hamas and Hamas is Gaza? Is there a distinction between the two? It is very difficult to discern that. Currently, there are crowds of Gazans taking to the streets seeming to protest against Hamas. Are citizens really fed up with terrorists? That seems like a promising sign except for the fact Hamas is a propaganda machine. We touched on it yesterday. Hamas would rather deceive than live in peace.
As the IDF entered Gaza to rid it of Hamas, what they found was astounding. Almost every home had Nazi propaganda, children’s books disparaging Jews, and evidence of training young children to wield guns in hopes of killing Jews. So, are Gaza and Hamas one in the same? Evidence appears to suggest that.
But doubts are entertained when crowds of Gazans shout against Hamas. It makes one wonder: Are they serious or is this another Hamas propaganda tool to gain worldwide sympathy? Could it be that terrorists embed themselves in those groups, appearing to want peace and baiting Israel into a bad agreement? Israel must be shrewd, and the US must not be duped in negotiations.
It begs certain questions: Should Israel End the Fighting in Gaza? Might Hamas finally be willing to give up all the hostages? Is peace possible if Hamas continues to exist? Is it ever wise to trust terrorists in peace negotiations?
