This post may be a bit controversial, so let’s exercise caution and respect as we approach today’s topic. Having seen first-hand the aftermath of Hamas’ heinous attack on October 7, 2023, and the resulting grief and heartache of a nation who has lost over 2,000 of their finest, key questions arise: What should God’s people do when demonic evil rises up? Does Hamas have any sort of moral, civilized conscience, or does Satanic demonization control them? Is it ever right to utterly destroy a people group?

Those questions haunt one’s mind, yet grow more legitimate as the nature of Hamas is revealed. No one with half a conscience would ever perpetuate such evil to other human beings. Even the animal kingdom fails in its degree of utter brutality towards others of its kind.

To the question at hand, I want to share an article that addresses the issue. You may or may not agree with the outcome of the case presented, but it is certainly worth considering.

Food for thought as I am also reminded of God’s command to the Israelites in Deuteronomy 20, Deuteronomy 25, Exodus 17, and elsewhere to utterly wipe out their enemies. In at least one case, the command was to wipe out every man, woman, and animal associated with an enemy tribe.

Yet, throughout history, Israel failed to do so; and throughout history, their enemies mounted tremendous attacks because they were not fully eliminated. Time and again, those very enemies took the lives of Jewish people because they were allowed to live and thrive.

I am particularly taken by one of the last paragraphs in the article:

Is human annihilation ever morally justified? Yes! When humans cease being human and become the demons of hell, whose aim is to revel in the suffering of others, that is the time to come to the conclusion that their destruction must happen, because if it doesn’t, mankind will become extinct!

When staring into the face of Satanic evil, one no longer battles human flesh and blood, but demonic beings. Only the spirit of God can defeat that enemy. The Holy One of Israel fights on Israel’s behalf and will one day rise up to completely annihilate her enemies. Until then, may the spirit of God indwell His people and enable them to do what is necessary in their fight for existence.
