Hi friends! Today I want to answer the question that keeps arising as a small group of us prepare to head to Israel in February: “Why are you going?”

It is a legitimate question, but also one with a simple answer: God is calling us!

Most ask the question because it is assumed that Israel is a dangerous place. One could argue that, because Israel’s enemies want them dead, it must not be safe to go there. However, now that Hamas has been decimated and is no longer a viable military force, and now that Hezbollah has been severely beaten down, and a ceasefire agreement in place, Israel is actually safer than it has been in quite some time. The IDF continues to hold the upper hand in the ground battle, and no one holds greater air superiority in the Middle East than Israel. The IDF has now taken the battle to other lands, rather than in Israel.

Israelis are returning back to routine life as families displaced because of war are returning to their towns and villages. Yes, they have lived through tremendous trauma, but with Iranian proxies (and Iran itself) set back on their heels, Israel will thrive and prosper once again.

But, I want to share more deeply about why we are going there. It isn’t to tour, but to serve and encourage the people of Israel. The 30-minute video below is in Hebrew with English subtitles, but I earnestly ask that you carve out the time to sit quietly and watch it. In doing so, you will understand exactly why we are going there!

Our group will be visiting the Nova site and places like those in the video. The love of Christ compels us, and we go willingly in the name of Jesus to love and encourage those in need in whatever ways we can serve.
