Hi friends! As we get closer to Christmas and Hanukkah, some Israel-loving Christians ask, “Should we celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah?” In brief, Christmas season is all about the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That should be a constant celebration, but particularly at this time of year!
Hanukkah is a Jewish festival of lights, but it contains principles we would do well to heed as Christians. For example, Jesus is the Light of the world, so the Jewish celebration points to Jesus. There is nothing wrong with Christians commemorating the Jewish feasts and holidays that point to our Lord. However, be sure to worship Jesus Himself, not the holiday that points to Him!
It’s all about Jesus!
Amir Tsarfati provides great insight into the idea of Christmas and Hanukkah celebrations. Though it was recorded several years ago, its message is relevant for today!
Enjoy this Christmas and Hanukkah season by focusing on the reason for the season: Jesus!
