If you are like me, you are fully heartbroken over the horrific dilemma the Netanyahu government is facing, and the societal upset it brings. Israel was a very divided country prior to October 7, they came together after the attack, and they are now more divided than ever.
We’ve discussed it previously, but here is the current critical disagreement. Roughly half of the Israeli population wants to bring the hostage home, no matter what must be given up in the war with Gaza. The other half truly values the lives of hostages, but understands that, to give up ground to Hamas and allow them to regroup, they will almost assuredly invite Hamas to attack Israel over and over again.
Hostage families are grieving while they pressure the Netanyahu administration to cut a deal with Hamas for return of the hostages. But, if he was successful in doing so, would Hamas uphold their end of the bargain and return hostages? It is hard to believe they would, as many hostages undoubtedly surround Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar, as human shields. Would Sinwar ever give up that advantage?
Meanwhile, for peace, Hamas demands the total end of the war, release of all prisoners, return of Hamas operatives to enclaves to resume firing rockets into Israel, among other things. How is Israel supposed to respond to such demands?
Yet, hostage lives are at stake. It is deeply heartbreaking, but one has to wonder if Hamas will ever release a live hostage again. To end the war without total destruction of Hamas will mean more terrorist attacks on Israel. It is truly an agonizing dilemma.
Two young men who articulate the situation so well are Mati Shoshani and Yair Pinto, former IDF soldiers now sharing valuable content on TBN Israel. Here, they discuss the very issue of Israel’s dilemma. Spend time today catching their commentary. You will learn something new!
Watch all the way to the end for a large dose of encouragement and urgency to pray! Enjoy!
