Since my very first trip to Israel many years ago, God has deepened my understanding of why Israel is so very critical to God’s faithfulness to us as Christians. It was in Israel that I saw evidence with my own eyes of His steadfast loving care of His chosen land and His chosen people. Land that was once wasteland is now lush and prosperous. The Jewish people, once scattered all over the globe, have regathered in Israel. Their native language (Hebrew) had virtually died out while Israel was scattered, but was resurrected upon return of families such as that of Eliezer Ben-Yahuda.
The Holy One of Israel sustained His people and their land. Throughout history, and even to this day, God’s hand of grace and sovereignty reign over Israel. God led the Israelites through the wilderness to the Promised Land. The Lord preserved Joseph in order to save his brothers and the land of Israel. By God’s grace, King David conquered Israel’s enemies and set up his kingdom in Jerusalem. The line of heroes in Israel’s history runs deep and rich, and God continues to faithfully bless Israel.
It is historic and Amir Tsarfati recently wrote about it:
Yes. Things are escalating in the north. Yes, we have political turmoil. Yes, my region of the world is chaotic. However, none of these realties change the fact that the promises of God are sure. God initiated my blessed country through Abraham. He rescued it through Moses. He restored in through Joshua. He preserved it through David. He rebirthed it from the ashes of the Holocaust, and He’s going to do an amazing work in my people in the future, just as He promised through the prophets and New Testament authors.

Throughout Israel’s ups and downs, God’s promises have indeed remained sure. And God is not done with Israel yet!
25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:
“The Deliverer will come out of Zion,
And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;
27 For this is My covenant with them,
When I take away their sins.”
~Romans 11:25-27
So, consider this: God’s faithfulness to Israel began at the first call to Abraham, when God uniquely called Israel into existence, and it continues to this day. Evidence is everywhere when you visit the land of Israel.
But notice something else about the passage above. Blindness has happened to the Jewish people until the fulness of the Gentiles has come in. Gentile friends, that means, though salvation was meant for the Jews, He also opened wide the opportunity for Gentiles to enter into salvation as well! (John 4:22, Romans 1:16)
God’s faithfulness to the Jewish people is His guarantee of faithfulness to us Gentiles as well! He cannot violate His character or His promises, therefore, we can count of Him to be 100% faithful to His uniquely called and chosen people (the Jews) as well as to those of us who name the Name above all Names, Jesus Christ, as our Lord and Savior! Israel is central to our understanding of God’s faithfulness!
