The streets of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem are often filled with protesters, fueled by media frenzy and left-wing ideology. Many of the protests, backed by leftist ideologs target PM Benjamin Netanyahu. The Biden administration, along with some other world leaders, would like nothing better than to dethrone Netanyahu for virtually the same reasons the radical left attempts to lynch Donald Trump: they dare to lead with stern principle and common sense. Neither are perfect men, but both are fully committed to putting their nation’s best interests first.
One subject of protest in Israel is the fate of Israeli hostages still held in Gaza. Loud voices are pressing Netanyahu to cut a deal with Hamas to release hostages, even though it might mean ending the war before Hamas is destroyed, leaving them to regroup and strike again as they have promised. Netanyahu believes military pressure will bring about greater likelihood of hostage release. Only when Yahya Sinwar and other Hamas leaders know their lives are imminently threatened might they finally give up hostages. Otherwise, hostages are a life insurance policy for the terrorist leaders.
With that as the backdrop, you can imagine the angst within the Israeli government to bring the hostages home, yet not forfeit the security of Israel in doing so. Amidst the anger and rage of the radical left, the country is ripping at the seams. Those desiring immediate ceasefire and hostage release are “at war” with those who strongly desire the return of hostages, but not as the next down payment on another October 7-style attack.
Those who love Israel felt a horrific gut-punch in December 2023 when, after 65 days in captivity, three Israeli hostages managed to escape Hamas but were inadvertently killed by IDF forces before they could identify themselves as Israelis. It was heart-wrenching.
Despite that, let’s enjoy some “feel good” news today! The mother of one of those hostages who perished found a way to bring unity to a hurting nation…she extended love and forgiveness to the soldiers who killed her son and two others. Then she went even beyond that! Read her incredible story of hope in the midst of such dejection, and how she is multiplying it around the world. I pray it touches you as it did me, and that perhaps we will all take a step closer to the grace of God as we hear her story and apply it to our own lives.
Enjoy!
