A quick peek at today’s news reveals a victory in Texas and a disgraceful surrender in Israel.

First, the good news! Texas Governor Greg Abbott has declared May Jewish American Heritage Month in his state! Kudos to Governor Abbott!

The proclamation alludes to “boundless success [of Jewish citizens] in public service, academia, business, and the fine arts.” Given the rise of antisemitism, Abbot noted the importance of standing with Israel, particularly during these times. He also encourages Texans to “learn more about the significant role Jewish people have played in our nation and to appreciate their rich heritage.” Whether Texans or not, we should all do that!

Genesis 12:3 promises that those who bless Israel will be blessed. Governor Abbott and the state of Texas are taking a stand on the right side of history! May more states follow his lead!

Sadly, on the other side of the ledger stands three former IDF generals, currently serving on Israel’s war cabinet. Generals Ganz, Eisenkot, and Gallant have apparently caved to the pressure of the US administration and have voted “no” on entering Rafah. (Which may explain why there has been such a delay in making a move that should have been done long ago.)

The matter now goes to the entire Israeli security cabinet, where Netanyahu has a majority. Hopefully, it will receive approval from that group and Israel can proceed to take care of business in Rafah.

Why is going into Rafah so important? Because anything short of accomplishing the stated mission of destroying Hamas (which had full support of all Israeli officials when originally announced) would be a seismic sign of weakness. In the Middle East, sharks (evil regimes) circle when there is blood in the water, and they would view Israel as fresh meat. The radical Arab Muslim world would coalesce in an attempt to wipe Israel off the map. They must not show weakness.

Additionally, let us not forget how this war started and who was responsible. Hamas raped, maimed and disfigured women before totally mutilating their bodies. They attacked and burned men, women and children alive, and they completely destroyed several kibbutzim near the Gaza Strip. They were not provoked, but rather initiated a well-planned attack…and have clearly stated they want to do it again and again and again. Such beings are not human…they are demonic, and they need to be eliminated.

Please pray for Prime Minister Netanyahu and the security cabinet. While you’re at it, pray against the evil spewing forth from the Biden administration as they do their absolute best to leave Israel in indefensible positions. May Israel rise up in courage and do what is necessary for the sake of their people and their God-given land.

BTW friends, Israel wins in the end! They are not going anywhere, but it is through the prayers of God’s people that the God of Israel moves on their behalf. Let’s fill heaven’s sanctuaries with prayer!
