Clearing the Way for Gog and Magog?

Every day that goes by, I am reminded of what God’s Word tells us about Israel, the nations, and Israel’s enemies. In many ways, what we are seeing in the Middle East aligns with what God’s Word prophesies throughout Old and New Testaments. For example:

  • Jerusalem will become a heavy stone that will injure those who come against it. (Zechariah 12:2-4)
  • Gaza will fall. (Zechariah 9)
  • Damascus will be destroyed. (Isaiah 17:1)
  • The abomination of desolation will arise in the holy place (Jerusalem’s third temple). (Matthew 24:15)

Though some of those things won’t happen until the tribulation, we see the groundwork being laid for them even now. As believers in Jesus and His soon-coming return in the air to snatch His church away (rapture), we know that a very significant battle will be fought either just prior or during the tribulation. That battle is the war of Gog and Magog, described in Ezekiel 38-39.

The Bible is pretty clear as to who will be involved, what their involvement will be, and where they will come from. We just don’t know the timing yet. Most Bible scholars believe it could be soon, and some think the fall of Damascus could light the fuse that leads to the full invasion. We don’t know for sure, but in the clip below (filmed live in Jerusalem), Joel Rosenberg helps us understand what Scripture has to say about the War of Gog and Magog. Perhaps it is new information for some and a great review for others. Either way, it is something to ponder. Enjoy!
