The Impact of American Politics on Israel

America seems to be on a course of destruction and ruin. Benjamin Franklin, one of our greatest founding fathers warned that we were given a republic (not a democracy) “if we can keep it.” Seems we’re not keeping it very well.

You ask, “What does that have to do with Israel?” A lot. God’s blessings upon a nation are predicated on whether or not a nation blesses Israel. (Genesis 12:3, Joel 3:2) Thus, today we’re going to focus like a laser on one aspect of America’s blessing (or lack thereof) of Israel. Indeed, as we lose our republic, we turn from blessing to curses.

In America, the closer we get to elections, the more we can count on politicians catering to ideological ideas that will win them votes, rather than simply governing according to wisdom and what is best for the country.

Case in point, despite over 100 attacks on American military bases in the Middle East, the Biden administration has done nothing to bring accountability to bear. In large part because of political blow back from extreme leftists, responses to those attacks have been far and few between. Military action that has taken place has been very benign (such as blowing up empty weapons storage facilities).

This weekend an attack by an Iranian-backed terrorist group in Iraq killed three US special ops warriors. To the media, Biden in his best “tough guy” voice, said that America will take action in accordance to our plan and our time. Then, hours later, he signed official documents indicating the US will retaliate only against forces supported by Iran, but not Iran itself. What he fails to acknowledge is that Iran could not care less about losing a few of their proxies. They are a dime a dozen and, as long as no one comes after Iran, they will continue to consider their mercenaries expendable. Biden’s extreme left political base is pressuring him to get tougher on Israel rather than tougher on Iran.

America’s weakness in the Middle East, where our greatest ally, Israel, bravely battles enemies on multiple fronts, proves to the evil regimes in Iran, Turkey and Russia that Israel does not really have the force of the US military behind them.

Need other examples of America’s disregard for Israel? How about Biden’s continued push to accomplish a nuclear deal with Iran. Lest we forget, Iran has pledged many times to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. What could possibly go wrong in giving Iran nuclear power!?!

But, that’s not all! Joe Biden consistently lobbies for a “two-state solution” between Israel and the Palestinians. Yes, even after the Hamas-ruled Palestinian’s October 7 massacre of Jews. They are not a viable peace partner! How absurd!

Here is something more particularly heinous: the United States is by far the biggest financial supporter of the United Nations Reliefs and Works Agency (UNRWA). Here are some facts about UNRWA:

  • UNRWA employees (paid by the UN) participated in the October 7 massacre.
  • UNRWA employs Hamas operatives who provide extensive education that instills anti-Semitic content into Palestinian children (beginning at very young ages).
  • The UN has a separate refugee agency responsible for all other refugees in the world besides Palestinians. They get their own agency.
  • All other refugees in the world lose their refugee status when accepted into their new country. Not Palestinians! Their refugee status is permanent, even if they make a very nice life for themselves in another country.
  • For that reason, the Palestinian refugee population is the only one growing instead of shrinking! There are now more than 5 million Palestinian “refugees.”

In large part, UNRWA’s fate will be decided by the 2024 US election. Victory by a conservative Republican may spell the end of UNRWA, while re-election of Joe Biden (or some other surrogate the Democrat party drops in at the last minute) will likely mean UNRWA continues to grow stronger.

Elections in America matter! Not just from a typical political perspective, but also from a Biblical perspective. Our once-Christian nation is teetering on the brink of internal chaos and destruction, and what happens in America will have an impact on Israel (and the world, for that matter.)

One reason our nation teeters is because Christians, in general, fail to live out our faith in every sphere of life. We may see the Israel issue as a political issue, but it is actually a spiritual issue playing out in the political arena.

Tomorrow we’ll focus on whether or not American Christians will take back our nation. Will we be bold enough to speak out, act out, and pray out for Israel? If not, we can kiss our beloved nation goodbye.

I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

~Genesis 12:3

Blessings and curses…upon which side of the scale will you stand? Join us tomorrow for that discussion.
