Israeli insiders admit a “colossal intelligence failure” resulted in the horrible massacre by Hamas on October 7. Regardless of blame, it has been my position that Israel now has a war to fight, and figuring out the cause and who is to blame can wait until a more suitable time.
But what if clear evidence is pointing to an intelligence officer who was given clear warning, and who, it seems, was a left-winger working to sabotage the Netanyahu government? Should he be allowed to continue in his position if it seems there is motivation to act contrary to Benjamin Netanyahu and his war cabinet?
No formal investigation or charges have been announced, but Caroline Glick is reporting that Commander of the IDF Military Intelligence Aharon Haliva indeed ignored intelligence reports and appears to have been subordinate in his duties to act on those intelligence reports. If true, the evidence presented in Glick’s article, Aharon Haliva has got to go. Now. is damning.
Let us not forget the warning of the apostle Paul that lying, deception and delusion will characterize the last days:
9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
~2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
Unfortunately, lying, deception and delusion will occur where we least expect it, and political partisanship often magnifies the matter. Remember, the months leading up to October 7 were very tumultuous in Israel, as right and left factions were at war with one another over judicial reform and other issues. Furthermore, there was tremendous pressure on Prime Minister Netanyahu, as many on the left were trying to force him out of office.
The war seems to have united Israelis and I pray it grows stronger and stronger, as they will need it. The longer the war goes on, the more the world will turn against Israel. Getting rid of traitors now may be the best move Israel can make.
Pray for the leaders of Israel to know what they should do (1 Chronicles 12:32) and pray for peace in Israel (Psalm 122:6-9).
