The Nations Gather in Israel for the Feast of Tabernacles

One of Israel’s most joyful seasons kicked off at sundown on September 29 and will continue until sundown on Friday, October 6. The Feast of Tabernacles commemorates God’s provision as Israelites wandered in the desert during their exodus from Egypt. God met with His people in a tabernacle that moved with them in the wilderness.

Today, Israelis set up small tabernacles (booths) where they enjoy fun, food and fellowship with friends and family in joyful remembrance that God provided their every need as Moses led them out of captivity.

From a Christian perspective, we see Jesus as the fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles. Not only does He make our hearts His home (tabernacle) when we surrender to Him in salvation, but the Bible tells of a day when He will tabernacle with us on earth, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to worship the King. That is known as the Millennium. Christians flock to Israel during the Feast of Tabernacle each year to enjoy a foretaste of what it will be like when Jesus fulfills that feast!

The festivities have begun and, hosted by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, thousands of Christians from around the world are gathered to worship together. Read more about it here.

It is the last of seven feasts God ordained for the Jewish people. Each year, each feast points to Jesus. Let’s pray that, as Christians gather there this week, the testimony of Jesus the Messiah will be reflected in word and deed!
