Shenanigans at the UN

Hey friends, have you heard what the UN is up to? If you follow me at all, you know I have no regard for the UN…which may as well mean “United Nothing.” What began as the League of Nations following WWI to promote international cooperation and peace, turned into the United Nations following WWII. Needless to say, they have promoted neither cooperation nor peace, but rather have become another powerful group of woke ideologs who sit around primarily to harass Israel and promote radical ideas such as global warming and spin off organizations that do nothing useful for mankind.

On May 15, the UN General Assembly will observe the Palestinian “Nakba Day” (Day of Catastrophe) commemorating Israel’s 75th anniversary of independence. When the nation of Israel was reborn on May 14, 1948, the Arab world went crazy and tried to wipe the tiny newborn nation from the face of the earth. Despite many tries, they never succeeded, but many Arab countries, led by Iran, have never really given up trying.

For many years, the Palestinians have petitioned the UN for a seat at the table of nations, though they have no nation. Throughout the years, the UN has capitulated to various whims of the Palestinians, including the development of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees. Not only was UNRWA the only relief organization to be dedicated to a single group (there were already other UN relief organizations), but Palestine is not a nation, and “refugees” is very liberally defined to include practically any Arab living in Israel who considers himself slighted by the Israeli victory during the War of Independence, which was launched the day after Israel was reborn when 5 Arab nations attacked the newborn nation.

Not satisfied with the UN’s recognition of their alleged plight, Palestinians have continued to press for favors and last December, the UN voted to adopt a resolution calling for “a high-level event at the General Assembly Hall” to commemorate Nakba Day.

To be fair, many of those who identify as Palestinians are wonderful people who simply want to live life in peace and provide for their families. Many are not in favor of the agenda driven by the radical Palestinian Authority leadership who push for these things at the UN. On our tours, we purposefully go into the West Bank to meet Palestinians and Jews who work happily and peacefully side-by-side with their Jewish neighbors. They are wonderful people apart from the radical regime.

Palestinian leadership, however, is now driven by Iranian-backed agendas, and continues to view the establishment of Israel as a catastrophe. They have obviously been successful in convincing the UN to take up their cause. (By the way, while Israel has at least 250,000 missiles aimed at them and often dozens fired at them on any given day, Israel receives more sanctions every single year in the UN than all other nations on earth combined!)

But wait, there’s more…

On a totally unrelated (but just as evil) note, the UN is now discussing lowering the age of consent to an age less than 18 (perhaps 12!) so that perverts and sexual deviants can rape children without any legal consequence. While the UN has no direct authority on the laws of sovereign nations, many (including the US) often consider copying or implementing resolutions passed at the UN.

But let’s not forget the warning Jesus Himself gave in Matthew 18:6, Mark 9:42 and Luke 17:2:

But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

A sober warning indeed. If you’re on Facebook, perhaps you heard Pastor Jack Hibbs’ commentary on this issue (beginning at the 4:10 mark):

Friends, we are living in the last days when Scripture tells us evil will grow rampant in our world. Hold fast to the truth and please stay in God’s Word and in fellowship with other believers.
