God Shakes Things Up So the Body of Christ Can Fulfill Their Calling

We’re moving to reason #3 in answer to the question: Why will God shake things up as we draw near the end? This is part of a series that answers that question, and I’m delighted to have you along on the journey with us! There are 4 previous parts of this mini-series (part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4), and I invite you to join us around the study table as we open our Bibles to our study passage, Haggai 2:1-9.

The prophet Haggai warns that God will shake the heavens and earth, land and sea, and nations, including Israel. By why? Let’s look at a third reason today: So the body of Christ can fulfill their calling!

Did you know we are created for good works that God ordained long ago? (Ephesians 2:10) Believers are suited and well-equipped for those good works. But be sure, good works don’t save us…they are the result of being saved. There is blessing as we bear fruit. It is why we were created.

Everyone remembers Jonah. He was given a mission, but ran the opposite direction from where God sent Him. It did not go well for Jonah! After being tossed overboard of the ship headed in the wrong direction and swallowed by a big fish, he was belched up on a beach and immediately hightailed it to Nineveh…the place God sent him to begin with.

Jonah was created for the mission God gave him, and God used Jonah to spark revival in Nineveh. What mission has God given you, and what direction are you headed? God is shaking things up and now is the time for the body of Christ…Christians everywhere…to fulfill the mission God has given us. Be bold and be confident that the One who calls will be faithful if we don’t run from our mission.

Oh, the nuggets we find! I pray you are blessed as you gather with us around the virtual study table. We have one more reason for God’s shaking to identify, and we will do that tomorrow. Join us again…and God bless you!
