Ok, Christian friends, quick quiz question: What is the greatest threat to tyranny? Indeed, it is Christians that rise together to fight for righteousness! Think about it for a moment. The population of America is about 330 million. According to Pew Research in 2018-2019, roughly 65% (214.5 million) of Americans identify themselves as Christians.
We all know that number is dramatically shrinking, and simply because one identifies as a Christian doesn’t necessarily mean they walk with Jesus. So, let’s consider less than 1/2 of that number and round it to 100 million. That is a lot of people with Holy Spirit power! What could 100 million people do if they united, not around a political figure, but around Jesus Christ Himself?
Then, what if those 100 million Christ followers decided to fight for the very liberty God granted us when this nation was founded? After all, Jesus came to set the captives free, and our founding fathers took that to heart when laying the foundation of our nation, based on freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of press, freedom to assemble, freedom to petition the government are all guaranteed in the First Amendment alone! (Our Constitutional Amendments are fraught with God-given freedoms!)
We have a moral and Biblical basis to protect and guarantee freedom, and by and large, it falls at the feet of Christians to fight for them. After all, they are God-given, so who better to fight for them? One of my favorite quotes from Charlie Kirk is this:
“The most important thing is to win souls for Jesus Christ. The second most important thing is to make sure we can still do the first thing.”~Charlie Kirk, August 2022 TPUSA Pastors Conference, San Diego CA
We MUST defend our freedoms if we want to keep them!
Imagine if every pastor led his congregation to fight for that freedom. Imagine if every Christian committed themselves to that fight. We would be an unstoppable force, and freedom and godliness would return to our nation. Yes, prayer is important and every one of us should fill the throne room with prayer and petition for our nation. But just as faith is illuminated by action, so is righteousness. We must act! Carve out half an hour to listen to Charlie Kirk and Pastor Rob McCoy’s exhortation to the church and to pastors.
Why is this important? America is unique in it’s calling. It is the only nation on earth founded by men undeniably committed to God, whose very foundational documents unashamedly appeal to the authority of God. The Bible tells us to whom much is given, much is required. By God’s grace, we were given much, and as we navigate the time and season leading to the end, are we failing to steward all that He has given?
America is not the end all. Israel is the center of the world (Ezekiel 5:5) and we are called to bless her. The further away from God we walk, the more we turn our back on Israel and leave her exposed to the evil that so desperately wants to destroy the one and only Jewish state.
America matters. Not just to us as believers or Americans, but to the entire world. Will we matter for good? Or will we matter for nothing? Enough sitting on the sidelines! Let’s rise up in righteousness and be found faithful when our Master returns.
