Christian friends, these are some of the most interesting days in modern history. Yes, things might look bleak through human eyes, but when our trust is in the One who reigns supreme, we marvel at the accuracy of God’s Word, and it grows our trust in Him who delivered it to us!

Make no mistake, despite being the world’s foremost superpower for decades, America will meet its demise. How do we know? Because the Bible is clear regarding players on the world stage at the end of time as we know it on this earth. A specific example is Ezekiel’s prophecy in chapters 38-39, known as the War of Gog and Magog.

A careful read of those chapters, identifying ancient names of modern nations (Ezekiel 38:3-6), tells us a coalition of Russia (Rosh, Meshech, Tubal), Iran (Persia) and Turkey (Gomer, Togarmah), along with Ethiopia (likely parts of Sudan and surrounding area) and Libya (including, perhaps, Algeria) will invade Israel from the north. Those nations are not particularly good friends! However, for various reasons, they all have interests at stake in coalescing against Israel…and we see those “unlikely” alliances actually forming.

Meanwhile, China and North Korea also have power-hungry leaders anxious to claim dominance. Revelation 9:13-16 foretells a 200,000,000-man army that will come from the east. What other nations to the east (or anywhere else, for that matter!) have forces of that size? But get this: that particular invasion doesn’t happen until well into the Tribulation! Yet, we clearly hear swords rattling as China threatens Taiwan and North Korea fires off missile-after-missile under the guise of “testing.” It is pure intimidation of South Korea and her allies (including the US).

What triggered this rise of power-hungry maniacs? Simple: the weakest and most inept US administration in history, a weak and hamstrung Senate, and a woke Congress focused more on cultural “correctness” than on governing.

Back to America’s place in Bible prophecy. There is no doubt God granted special privilege to our newborn nation in 1776. After all, He gave us grace and strong men to found a nation built upon Godly principles. Then, God used that Godly nation to spread the Gospel far and wide. But then, that Godly nation got “too big for its britches” and decided we could do without God, so we kicked Him out of schools and public places and tried to build an insurmountable barrier between church and state. America is now a post-Godly nation, and we will pay the price for it.

Further into Ezekiel 38 (verse 13), the prophet reveals people groups who will refrain from attacking Israel during the War of Gog and Magog, and they may even verbally condemn those who invade. But they do nothing more. That list includes Saudi Arabia and the Arabian peninsula (Sheba and Dedan), the merchants of Tarshish (perhaps the UK and Spain) and “their young lions.” Scholars differ as to the identity of the young lions, and some suggest it might include America. That may or may not be a stretch, but even if true, America does nothing but stand on the sideline, asking questions.

Israel will stand alone. Neither America, Europe, Saudi Arabia nor the Abraham Accord partners will stand with them in the end.

So, how will the Biden administration handle all the threats currently on the table? I suggest they won’t. This could be the undoing of America that leads to the open door of invasion by the Ezekiel 38 coalition into Israel. But don’t be dismayed! This all plays into God’s plan.

Christian friends, we know how it ends! The Lord Himself will stand up to defeat Israel’s enemies! What about America? Our beloved nation will ultimately pay a heavy price, but our Lord Jesus will come to redeem us, along with millions worldwide who have put their trust in Jesus! As believers, we have an eternal future with Him. That is glorious news, but should also be our clarion call to do all in our power to share the Gospel and invite as many as we can to put their faith in the One who saves…Jesus Christ!
