Is a “Silent War” Going on in Iran?

Covert operations, believed to have been carried out primarily by Israel, have plagued Iran the past few years. Among the silent attacks have been unexplained explosions at key sites (such as gas and electrical plants), assassinations of key players in Iran’s nuclear program and military operations, covert operations to steal nuclear plans, and even mysterious cyber attacks on the Persian nuclear facilities.

Within the past few days, other developments seem to have occurred. For example, following Netayahu’s departure from office, Russia appeared to become a bit more reluctant to allow Israeli strikes on Iranian positions in Syria. However, following current PM Naftali Bennett’s visit to Russia only days ago, Israel carried out major strikes on strategic Iranian positions on the Golan Heights.

Then, within the past day or so, fuel pumps throughout Iran failed, and continue to be disabled. Likewise, most Iranian banks have also been impacted by the attack.

Interestingly, on gas pump screens across Iran appeared the number 64411, the telephone number of the Office of the Iranian Supreme Leader! This isn’t the first time the Ayatollah’s number has appeared boldly in public, as it was also found on electronic boards at train stations several months ago following a similar cyber attack!

It is unclear who is behind this particular cyber attack, but rumors are circulating that perhaps the US and Israel have coordinated efforts.

Is war actually happening in the Middle East? There are likely many opinions, mostly dependent upon one’s definition of “war.” However, I think it is safe to say we are seeing a new wave of “wars and rumors of wars,” of which Jesus warned His disciples when answering their questions about signs of the end times. (Matthew 24)

It begs the question: Are we living “as in the days of Noah?” Read carefully what Luke records in his gospel:

26 And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so will it also be in the days of the Son of Man: 27 people were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, and they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, and they were building; 29 but on the day that Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.

~Luke 17:26-30

Just as the flood in Noah’s day and the fire and brimstone in Lot’s day caught everyone off-guard and doing their own thing, are we also oblivious to the spiritual reality that we could be living in the same laissez faire mindset, doing our own thing, as the Son of Man is about to be revealed?

Be ready, friends! This world is not our home, and Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us. He will come again to take us there! (John 14:1-3)
