Pentecost: Where Mt Sinai and Mt Zion Intersect

Yesterday was Pentecost, but I want to linger there for just a moment because there is one more fascinating thing I want you to see. Pentecost is the Christian commemoration of the giving of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church. The same day is known as Shavuot to Jews, and represents the giving of the law to Moses on Mt Sinai.

Interestingly, both narratives include a mountain. Moses received the Ten Commandments from God on Mt Sinai. The world received salvation through Jesus Christ on Mt Calvary (also known as Mt Zion).

That’s where the fascination begins. Be sure to read One for Israel’s The Context of Pentecost: A Tale of Two Mountains for the rest of the story. It will give you new insight! Enjoy!
