As you have likely heard, Israel carried out yet another airstrike on a weapons convoy believed to be transporting chemical weapons out of Syria into Hezbollah’s hands in Lebanon. The early-morning Wednesday attack is the latest in what is becoming commonplace airstrikes by Israel in an attempt to keep significant weapons out of the hands of Hezbollah terrorists.
In addition to the weapons convoy, it is believed that weapon caches under the command of Syria’s Army 3rd Division were also targeted and successfully eliminated. You can read more about this incident here.
Other known IAF airstrikes with the same objectives have been carried out in:
- January 2017
- November 2016
- December 2016
- December 2016 (second strike of the month)
- May 2016
- November 2015
- April 2015
It is no secret that Syria is a hodge-podge of rogue regimes. President Bashar al-Assad, a tyrannical dictator, has used chemical weapons against his own citizens. His regime is being propped up by Russia and Iran, both heavily present in Syria. ISIS continues to battle for territory in Syria, as do rebel groups opposed to the Assad regime. Hezbollah, a sworn enemy of Israel and a known terrorist group, is firmly entrenched in southern Lebanon, just across the border from Syria. They have literally thousands of rockets aimed at Israel.
Damascus, the capital city of Syria, is known to have huge stockpiles of chemical weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. The battle amongst all entities listed above centers, at least somewhat, on Damascus. Imagine what could happen if any of those rogue regimes gets their hands on the weapons stockpiled in Damascus.
Thus, you see why Israel takes action when WMD’s head for Lebanon’s borders to supply Hezbollah with the most destructive weapons available. But will Israel be the trigger that fires off the prophecy of Isaiah 17:1?
Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city
and will become a heap of ruins.
Furthermore, given the Russian-Iranian alliance already in place just across Israel’s border in Syria, could the destruction of Damascus light the fuse for the Ezekiel 38-39 prophecy?
Time is short, friends. Jesus said:
But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.
Indeed, He is coming…
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
Lord come quickly…..Maranatha!
