ABC News (among others) is reporting that chemical weapons, along with Russian-made surface-to-surface missiles, were found by Iraqi troops in Mosul yesterday.
Officials believe ISIS converted a lab at Mosul University into a chemical weapons lab. Once discovered, the chemicals were tested and confirmed to be a mustard agent.
Iraqi special forces Brig. Gen. Haider Fadhil said he believes the facility was set up in the Nineveh ruins — an ancient site just over 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) from the Tigris, but removed from the city’s dense neighborhoods — to keep it a secret from Mosul residents who might be passing information to Iraqi forces and the U.S.-led coalition.

It is believed ISIS was attempting to weaponize the chemical agents, but have been unsuccessful in developing efficient delivery systems.
