The Lord has sworn by his right hand
and by his mighty arm:
“I will not again give your grain
to be food for your enemies,
and foreigners shall not drink your wine
for which you have labored…
~Isaiah 62:8
Dear praying friends, tomorrow is the first Wednesday of the month, which means it is a day of prayer. If you aren’t a regular follower of Looking for the Blessed Hope, let me explain.
There is a prayer initiative, launched by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ), appropriately called The Isaiah 62 Prayer Initiative. Designed to call believers all over the world to pray for Israel, I join and support the effort through “For Zion’s Sake,” an online thrust via this blog.
Using one of the 12 verses of Isaiah 62 each month, we focus our prayers for Israel. In this eighth month, we’re focusing on verse 8 (above), and I’m sharing from the prayer guide supplied by ICEJ:
The Lord is described as making a vow with His right arm. Symbolically, the right arm represents strength and dexterity. He promises that Israel will no longer toil to the point of exhaustion, only to hand everything over to the enemy. He has sworn. Sworn, in its most literal form means, “to seven oneself,” seven being the number of perfection and completion. It’s as if the Lord repeats His declaration seven times. We can count on a time that Israel will be able to keep her food and drink, her bread and wine, for which she labored, and not have it stolen by the enemy. And it is for this we pray.
Join the prayer effort, my friends! Click here to pledge to pray, view monthly prayer points, and find an Isaiah 62 Prayer Group in your area. (None in your area? Why not start one! ICEJ will provide all the resources you need…you only have to be willing and available.)
If you are in the Phoenix area, please join us at Calvary Community Church at 6:00pm, tomorrow (and every first Wednesday of the month). Regardless, be faithful to pray tomorrow!
