Shavuot or Pentecost?

My dear friends, tonight at Sundown our Jewish friends around the world will begin the celebration of Shavuot.  Though Jews and Christians share the same spiritual roots, we view things a bit differently because of the roll of Jesus Christ in each of our theological belief systems.

Christians have much to celebrate, just as the Jews do!  Last year at Pentecost (the Christian’s celebration of the Jewish time of Shavuot) I offered a special prayer for you…and that prayer remains equally important today!  Here is a taste of what I wrote last year:

But let’s turn our focus to Pentecost and its significance.  Indeed, God poured out the Holy Spirit, giving believers throughout history the ability to “deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age” (Titus 2:12).  Dear believers, that is our call!  That is our responsibility!  That is our gift from God, to be used for His glory!  But what keeps us from living that out?

Please go back to this post from last year and soak in the truth!  I know you will be blessed.  (Just click on the picture or the headline link below to discover the blessing!)  Happy Shavuot!

To Jews, it is Shavuot; to Christians it is Pentecost!
