Super Tuesday: Does America’s Future Hang in the Balance?

Super Tuesday…the biggest single day for primaries and caucuses.  12 states and 1 US territory will go to the polls to cast votes and Super Tuesday historically a milestone in primary elections that often launches candidates toward their party’s nomination.

Over the past months I have expressed my thought that this election is perhaps the most critical in our lifetime, and that we need to pray for a “Josiah.”  Now, I believe we have come to the critical tipping point when it comes to this election season.  Should frontrunning candidates do really well tomorrow, the delegates they collect, along with the momentum they will garner, will almost certainly lead to nominations.

Though I don’t believe a president can “save” America from the downward spiral, a bad choice of president can certainly grease the skids on that downward slide, and could put our nation “beyond the point of no return” when it comes to moral issues and standing strong with Israel.  That spells trouble because immorality ultimately erodes a nation from the inside out, and we know what God’s Word tells us about standing with Israel.  (Why Should Americans Stand with Israel?)

Christian friends, our God is bigger than any election, and we must not lose sight of that!

“Remember the former things long past,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is no one like Me,
Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things which have not been done,
Saying, ‘My purpose will be established,
And I will accomplish all My good pleasure.’”
~Isaiah 46:9-10

God will indeed accomplish all His good pleasure…with or without a president who follows Him.  However, the Bible also teaches us that disobedience to God has consequences.  History confirms God’s promise to Abraham in Genesis 12:3:

And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse.

Deuteronomy 11:26-28a and Deuteronomy 30:19-20 also distinctly tell us that He places decisions of life and death, blessings and curses, before us, and that we are to choose life (blessings)!

I join with many Christian leaders who are burdened for our nation.  I want America to experience blessings and life, yet we are seemingly leaning to the wrong side of the equation.  Thus, as Anne Graham Lotz and Franklin Graham have called our nation to prayer in the recent past, I join in that call to ask you to make today a day of prayer, particularly for those states going to the polls tomorrow (Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont Virginia, Colorado, Alaska, and American Samoa).

If you live in one of those states, please know and understand the candidates and VOTE your Christian values.  Our nation’s future is at stake.
