Praying with Confidence

This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask,we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

~1 John 5:14-15

Hey gang, are you up for our mission this week?  If you are new to Looking for the Blessed Hope, you are welcome here!  We are preparing for a concentrated day of prayer on Friday (November 28, 2014), and I am very excited to approach the throne of God!  He is a prayer-hearing, prayer-answering, miracle-working God, and it is our great privilege to bow before Him.  We are trusting Him to “shake it up!”

Several weeks ago I became burdened to lead a three-pronged prayer effort:

  • Prayer for the peace of Jerusalem
  • Prayer for persecuted believers
  • Prayer for a third Great Awakening in our nation that impacts the world

During the weeks since, God has revealed a plan and the timing for this call to prayer.  Prior to Friday’s concentrated day of prayer, I will focus on each of the three prayer points in blog posts Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, so be sure to follow along on those days.  On Friday, our day of prayer will begin at 8:00am (MST in the US) and will end at 5:00pm.  In America, Thanksgiving is Thursday and many of us enjoy holidays from work on Thursday and Friday.  Thus, I have personally committed to the length of a work day to pray and fast on Friday.  You may choose to participate to whatever degree you wish.

On that day, prayer points will be posted at 8:00am, 11:00am and 2:00pm (all MST) to help us pray in unison, and we will concentrate prayer efforts this way:

  • 8:00am-11:00am: Prayer for the peace of Jerusalem
  • 11:00am-2:00pm: Prayer for persecuted believers
  • 2:00pm-5:00pm: Prayer for a third Great Awakening in our nation that will impact the world

I’m convinced that God lives outside of time, though, so if you choose to pray on a different time schedule, feel free!

Pray with Confidence

Hebrews 4 teaches us an important lesson about prayer.  The writer of Hebrews spends 15 verses teaching us that, as believers, we have rest in our Savior, Jesus Christ, and that all things are open and laid bare before His eyes.  Christian friends, we belong to Him; and He sees the condition of our world, and He knows the thoughts and intentions of our hearts.  Part of the passion for Looking for the Blessed Hope is to exhort the body of Christ to be ready for Christ’s return, and I know that many of you join me in that intention of the heart.  God sees and knows our heart, and I believe it pleases Him.

Having that foundation, here is the promise given to us in the very last verse of Hebrews 4:

Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace,
so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Do you agree that we are in a time of need in our country and in our world?  There is no doubt in my mind that we are in need, and it is necessary that we draw near to the throne of grace.  But, notice the verse implores us to draw near with confidence!  Dear Christian friends, we find rest in the One to whom we pray, and we belong to Him!  Thus, my passion for this time of prayer is not that we pray, hoping He will respond, but that we come confidently, believing that God will hear, answer and respond in miraculous ways to the sincere prayers of His beloved children.

I’m inviting you to join me this week (especially on Friday for our concentrated day of prayer and fasting), as we draw near with confidence to the throne of grace.  As we do, the writer of Hebrews exhorts us still further:

Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence
to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus
…let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith.
~Hebrews 10:19, 22

As His children, we have confidence as we draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith in a prayer-hearing, prayer-answering, miracle-working God!  The throne room is open…let’s go there in great confidence and expectation that our God will indeed “shake it up!”

See you tomorrow!

Acts 2 ,18,-19 also tells us, that He will Pour His Spirit and we will prophecy, He will do wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath, blood, fire, and vapour of smoke

I tried to post something yerstaday, I think it didn’t registerd. Well the day is here! Yes lets get together like the primitive church in Acts 2, they were all with one accord ,one reaason. And suddenly came a sound of heaven as a rushing mighty wind! Almighty God and His Powerful Holy Spirit, shaking them up! So let’s do it, like in Pentecost.

    1. Amen Alina! The same Almighty God who worked miracles in Acts 2 on that great day of Pentecost is at work today as well. As we pray in confidence, I believe God will move. Thanks for your oneness in spirit! Be blessed today as you pray!
