While Amnesty International levels charges of war crimes against Israel for “displaying callous indifference” during attacks in the Gaza Strip, a top-ranking American general is standing up for the IDF and their actions in Gaza. God bless US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey!
Amnesty is focused on 8 cases in which they accuse Israel of attacking homes without warning. However, consider the lengths to which the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) went to avoid civilian casualties:
- The IDF dropped leaflets telling Gaza residents precisely when the strikes would occur, and where they could go for safety. (Click here to see how it was done, and precisely what those warnings said.)
- The Israeli military made tens of thousands of phone calls to Gaza residents to warn them to go to safety prior to airstrikes on their location.
- Text messages were sent to those living in targeted areas.
- After other forms of warning, the IDF fired small “roof-knocking” missiles to provide final warning that “the real thing” was on its way in a few minutes. Check out this IDF video of “roof-knocking,” followed by the actual bombing of a Hamas target.
Now, why was Israel bombing Gaza in the first place? Because Hamas has consistently launched rockets into Israel from the Gaza Strip since Israel’s withdraw from the Gaza Strip in 2005. Click here for very simple, yet clear information regarding rocket launches from Gaza, and the ongoing terror perpetrated against the Jewish state and its citizens.
So, why is it that Israel is dragged before the UN War Crimes Tribunal while Hamas goes about its business with absolutely no consequence? Some may not like the answer, but perhaps the Lord is setting the stage for Biblical events that will happen during the last days. Scripture tells us that Israel will stand alone. (Joel 3:2, Zechariah 12:3) Today, we see nations and people groups not only turn their backs on Israel, but blatantly attack her while few come to her defense. (The attackers will be severely injured, according to Zechariah 12:3.)
But rejoice! Though all the nations of the world may turn their backs, God will never forget or turn His back on Israel! Here is what He says about His people after they are gathered back in their land (March 14, 1948):
“Then they will know that I am the Lord their God because I made them go into exile among the nations, and then gathered them again to their own land; and I will leave none of them there any longer. I will not hide My face from them any longer, for I will have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,” declares the Lord God.
~Ezekiel 39:28-29
