Israel Extends Ceasefire; North Korea Emerges as a Partner to Hamas

Gaza

Despite recommencement of rocket fire by Hamas into Israel, Israel has agreed to extend the ceasefire until midnight Sunday.  According to the Jerusalem Post, Israel’s security cabinet will meet again on Sunday to discuss future steps.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State John Kerry is entertaining ceasefire ideas from Qatar and Turkey, two key Hamas allies in the region.  An Israeli official, however, said, “We’re a long way from a political solution.  We will not end this operation and leave Gaza until the tunnels are dealt with.”

Israel is open to economic rehabilitation of Gaza following the conflict, but is “intent on degrading Hamas’s terrorist infrastructure.”

On another front, North Korea has entered into negotiations to provide Hamas with more missiles and communication equipment.

Interestingly enough, many reports (including this one) indicate that Hamas is looking for ways to replenish its arsenal, due to the large number of rockets fired at Israel.  Yet, in other reports (like this one and this one), we learn that Iranian leaders are boasting that Hamas has used only 3% of their weapons, and that Israel should “end the occupation” and disarm itself.

While Hamas and its allies try to figure out exactly what they have and don’t have, we need to pray!  You see, evil often doesn’t know truth from lies…it only knows destruction.  And destruction is what we’re seeing.  The people of Gaza are being destroyed by an evil terrorist regime, and that regime is hell-bent on destroying Israel as well.

With Iran and North Korea in the mix, evil increases.  Dear friends, a spriritual battle is raging and I’m not sure we’re awake!  Scripture exhorts us to be awake, to be alert, to be ready!  (Matthew 24:36-44, Matthew 25:13, Mark 13:33-37)   While evil may reign on earth, our Lord Jesus is returning!  Let’s not sleep through the alarms!

“Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.  Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.

~Revelation 19:6-7
