When Fire Fell: A Look at Israel Today

Friends, I get so excited about what is going on in Israel! There are faithful pastors and ministry leaders sharing not only the Gospel but sharing the love of Jesus with Israeli Jews and Arabs. I am so blessed to know many of them and all who follow know of my good friend, Pastor Saleem Shalash! He is an Arab pastor in Nazareth and he, his family, and his congregation are true reflections of what it means to be followers of Jesus! For years they have been ministering in Nazareth but recently opened a second location in Haifa.

Near Haifa is Mt Carmel, the scene of the infamous battle of the Baals where Elijah challenged the Baals to ask their god to call down fire upon their altar and they failed. So, Elijah poured water on his altar (including the wood), soaking it four times, then called upon the One True God to send fire upon the altar. It happened, and the glory of the Lord was proclaimed!

On a rooftop platform where one may overlook that site, the Jezreel Valley and many other places, Pastor Saleem spent 3 minutes telling us of the heavenly fire falling upon the land of Israel. Check out:

This man is on fire for the Lord! I want you to meet him! Come to Israel with us! We have space available on tours in June and November 2026. Hey, BTW – I will be leading the November tour, so I would love to see you on that one!

Now, a couple of tidbits from the video:

  • That platform from which Pastor Saleem taught is usually jam-packed with people! Now is the time to go to Israel! The crowds are small and access to sites is much quicker…meaning we can get more in!
  • Around the 2:30 mark on the video, look just over Pastor Saleem’s left shoulder and you will see two airstrips (in a V-shape). That is the Ramat David Airbase in the Jezreel Valley, home to squadrons of F-16 aircraft, bunkered underground. You likely heard aircraft in the air during his talk. Yes, that is a welcome sound, meaning the skies above Israel are being kept safe!
  • Finally, notice how green it is! The Jezreel Valley, once useless swampland, has come to life, just like many other parts of Israel. God wasn’t kidding in Ezekiel 36-37 where He talked about preparing the land for the return of the Jewish people. Once they began returning, by God’s grace, that worthless land became some of the most fertile soil in the world!

Come see for yourself…and meet Pastor Saleem and other pastors sharing the love of Yeshua in Israel.
