Happy New Year, friends!

I am compelled to open the new year with encouragement from God’s Word, so I hope the next few days bring joy and assurance. Our Lord longs for us to know His character and “put it on” as we go into the world!

Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness.
~Isaiah 43:19

God longs to do new things but will never push His way into our lives to bring those new things to fruition. In 2026, will you welcome Him into the dark corners of life in order to bring new things? None of us wish for wilderness times in our lives, but the road through the wilderness often reveals His blessing. Walk steady through all that comes your way, dear friends. God is doing something new!

²¹ Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, ²² throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. ²³ Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. ²⁴ Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
~Ephesians 4:21-24

By fleshly nature, we are sinners. If left to our own devices, we rarely choose righteousness over self-will. But with Christ at the center of life and the Holy Spirit as our guide, we are able to “throw off” our old, sinful nature corrupted by lust and deception.

¹⁷ This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
~2 Corinthians 5:17

With Jesus as our Savior, we have the power to thrown off our old self and become a new person! Break free this year and allow the Spirit to renew your thoughts and attitudes and make you a new person!
