Hi friends! I just finished teaching a Bible study urging believers to know and understand God’s covenants with Israel, particularly the Abrahamic Covenant. We will never know the fullness of our Christian faith until we find its roots in Judaism. No, I’m not suggesting we turn Jewish! Rather, I am stating that, to understand our own faith, we must know where it’s rooted.
Seems Joel Rosenberg has a similar concern that the church lacks knowledge and/or commitment to the Biblical truth of the Abrahamic Covenant. In a recent interview with Gary Bauer, senior VP of Public Policy for the James Dobson Family Institute, Rosenberg voiced concern about what is happening in American churches when it comes to Israel. I share those concerns. His comments are included in this article:
According to statistics, adults and young people alike are missing the boat, as support for Israel dwindles, even in the church.
Friends, get into God’s Word with a conscious intentionality to find out what it says about Israel. Start with God’s covenant with Abraham (Genesis 12, 15, 17). You will find that God promised Abraham land and descendants…forever. It is an eternal covenant and God intends Israel to be blessed, and for them to bless all the families of the earth.
They gave us Jesus, our Savior! What bigger blessing could there ever be? But in turn, we are commanded to bless Israel. We don’t have to agree with everything the Israeli government or people do, but as believers in the Jewish Messiah, we definitely have an obligation to stand with them!
Where do you stand when it comes to Israel?
