Hi friends! This past weekend, Prescott was the sight of a Signs of the Times Conference featuring Mike Golay (Behold Israel), Pastor Barry Stagner (Calvary Chapel Orange County CA), Pastor Jack Hibbs (Calvary Chapel Chino Hills) and Gary Kah (board member of Exodus International and a world-renown expert in globalization). It was a blessing to be there with good friends listening to men of God teach straight from the Word of God! (So many churches are lacking that these days.)
Occasionally, in days to come, I will hit the highlights from the weekend conference. I’ll start with Mike Golay who opened up the conference with a message regarding the days of Noah. As Matthew 24:36-39 warns, no one knows the day or the hour of the rapture, but people will be living as they were in Noah’s time. They were overtaken by the flood because their eyes were fixed on worldly things. Only Noah and his family proved to be fixed on Jesus.
Mike pointed out two dangerously prevalent attitudes in the world today: those who say, “who cares” and go on about their business, and those who push sin to the next level. Romans 1:24, 26, and 28 tell us plainly that God will give them over to lusts, vile passions and a debased mind. Those are signs that we are living in the last days.
Golay then took us to Genesis 6:1-8 to examine exactly what the world was like prior to the worldwide flood of Noah’s day. Fallen angels/demons were living out unnatural lusts as they pursued earthly women. Just as Romans 1:24-28 describes, those evil beings were lustful, filled with vile passion and had debased minds. Verses 3-4 of Genesis 6 go on to describe the vileness of the Nephilim (“fallen ones”). More depravity.
Yet, in Genesis 6:6-8, we find God proposing two options: judgment or salvation. Noah and his family chose salvation. Did you know Noah did not shut the door on the ark? God did, symbolizing the work of God alone to draw us into salvation and protect us there.
So what is the lesson for today?
Do you believe Genesis 6:1-8 is representative of today’s world? I believe we would come to a resounding “yes.” God’s Word says these are days of deception in which we live. Continually, we are told that good is evil and evil is good. Though we might say, “I would never be so foolish as to be deceived by the world,” we would be kidding ourselves. Left to our own resources and abilities, we will not stand in righteousness when deception becomes so subtle we hardly recognize it.
The answer, my friends, is to be in God’s Word! The Bible is literally our instruction book for life. The Creator who designed us and brought us to life wrote the owner’s manual! Everyone of us will be fooled by counterfeits unless and until we are so engulfed and living in truth that the fake things the world tells us are of value are unmasked to reveal evil. God’s Word will never steer you toward deception, but will close the door to your ark, so that you may safely pass through all the deception the world throws your way!
Be in God’s Word!
PS: Check back in days to come. I will occasionally post additional truth nuggets from the Signs of the Times Conference.
