How true that is.
Think about recent instances of violence, particularly against Jewish people. The murder of young Jewish diplomats…Molotov cocktails thrown at innocent people peacefully protesting…shouts of “Free Palestine” (while wishing Israel’s elimination). What brings violence? Hatred, which stems from alleged “causes” such as genocide. It is rampant, and targeted toward Jews around the world.
In an article entitled, Hatred has Become Their God, long-time Christian Zionist columnist Arlene Bridges Samuels emphasizes the need to “obey God’s unbreakable biblical mandates about Jews,” and to “realize that each of us is no longer just one person.” The necessity of Christians and Jews to stand together has never been greater. I encourage you to read the full article.
But what exactly is our mandate and how are we to be joined as one with the Jewish people?
To understand our mandate as Christians toward Jews, we must first understand God’s mandate TO the Jews. Genesis 12:3 is one single strand of God’s call upon Abraham to birth the Jewish race. But that strand is an important one! There, God mandates that the world is to be blessed by Abraham and his descendants (the Jewish people).
That is God reaching toward us Gentiles through the Jews. But there is a reciprocal mandate for us. Romans 11 provides clear indication of how God reaches toward Jews through us! We are to provoke the Jewish people to jealousy, meaning our lives, our thoughts, our support, our prayers and our actions as Christians must shout the name of Yeshua!
After all, part of the blessing given to us by Abraham’s race is the Jewish Messiah, Jesus our Lord and Savior. In turn, we are to be instruments of His to cause the Jewish people to want their Messiah back! (He’s big enough to share!)
As you consider the violence perpetuated toward Israel and the Jewish people, stop to consider God’s mandate to us as Christians. We must love what God loves (including His uniquely called people) and hate what God hates (violence and hatred toward them). Don’t allow it! Be willing to speak up against it. Be ready to demonstrate the love of Jesus to those He has commanded to bless the world!
Be strong, courageous, and steadfast my friends!
