During our study together, my prayer has been that our God who is ON MISSION, and invites us to join Him, will speak to each of us clearly and undeniably. He is asking us to join Him where He is at work, and He has been at work in and through the Jewish people since the days of Abraham. True, Israel is not the only place in which God is at work, but it is the place He has called us to and invited us to join Him.
Throughout Scripture, God called specific people to specific tasks, and He does the same today. In Hebrew, there are two ways to say, “Here I am.” One is poh. It is similar to responding to a roll call. “I’m here.” The other is hineni, which is a response to a divine call. It signifies total surrender and dedication. It might sound something like this: “Here I am at your beck and call. Do with me as you will!”
In Genesis 22:1-19, God tested Abraham’s faith by instructing him to take his only son, Isaac, and offer him as a burnt offering. Three times in that passage, Abraham responds, “Hineni.” Here I am.
When God needed a faithful servant to lead His people out of Egypt, He tapped an unsuspecting young shepherd named Moses to fulfill the mission. God summoned Moses from the midst of a burning bush and Moses answered “Hineni.” Here I am. (Exodus 3:1-4) Because of that obedience, God introduced Himself as I AM WHO I AM. (verse 14) Moses met the Great I AM!
1 Samuel 3 tells us of a young boy named Samuel who was mentored by an elder prophet named Eli. As they were ministering in the tabernacle, the Lord called out to Samuel three times. Each time, thinking his mentor had summoned him, Samuel responded, “Hineni” to Eli. Each time Eli assured him he had not called to the young boy. Knowing God was teaching the young man how to hear His voice, Eli instructed Samuel to respond, “Speak, Lord, for Your servant hears.” He did so and the Lord spoke prophetic words to Samuel.
In the morning, Samuel was afraid to tell Eli the vision God had given him, yet Eli called to Samuel who responded, “Hineni.” Here I am. God raised up a young prophet that day!
Our circumstances are different, but our God is the same! Each person on the trip has knowingly or unknowingly already proclaimed their “Hineni” moment! Each of us has expressed how God called us to this mission. Each of us responded, “Hineni!”
What does it mean? It means we have seen where God is at work, He has called us to join Him ON MISSION, and we are going to join Him where He is working!
We will encourage and work alongside women living in a shelter overcoming hardship. We will prepare meals for Israeli families who have been directly impacted by war. We will bless IDF soldiers with fresh, warm meals as they take a break from the action in Lebanon. We will pack food boxes to be given to those in need, some of whom lived through the trauma of the October 7 attack. We will share encouragement with those who lost loved ones to kidnapping or war in Gaza. We will work alongside Jewish and Arab pastors and their congregations as they minister to populations dreadfully impacted by the events of October 7 and the war that followed.
In Matthew 25, Jesus spoke of ministering to “the least of these My brethren,” indicating what is pleasing to the King. We will do that. Isaiah 40 speaks of comforting the people of Israel and preparing the way of the Lord. We will do that.
Whether you are part of our group going to Israel or you are partnering with us in prayer, encouragement or financial support of the ministries we are partnering with, we are in this together! We are ready, and we will go ON MISSION with God in Israel! That is where He is working, that is where He has called us, and that is where we will join Him!
Welcome to the ON MISSION with God solidarity trip!
