Question of the Day: Who is Jesus?

In “man on the street” interviews, Israelis were asked, “Who is Jesus?” Their answers are surprising…and at times, not so surprising! However, this is a great opportunity to pray for the Jewish people.

In fact, October 11-12 is Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Hebrew calendar. Also known as the Day of Atonement, it is one of the feasts that God ordained for the Jewish people. In Jewish temple life, it was the day of sacrifice for sin, the one day each year the High Priest could enter the Holy of Holies on behalf of the people to present the blood of a sacrificial lamb as atonement for sin.

Jewish minds turn more toward God during this time of “ashes and sackcloth.” They focus on repentance during these days prior to Yom Kippur because it is a high holy day of repentance in hopes their sacrifice is great enough for God to forgive their sins. If only they realized Jesus was the sacrificial Lamb whose blood was spilled once and for all for the sins of the world.

As they are seeking, and as Jesus is revealing Himself through their Jewish feasts, pray for their eyes and hearts to be open to recognize and receive the Messiah!
